Massandra photos [part 1]

1. Massandra Palace is a very popular POI in Yalta region. It is also known as the Palace of Empreror Alexander III. The perfect architecture of this cosy Crimean Palace and the park ensemble have their own unique charm, the air has a spirit of Crimean pines and great views can be seen from this beautiful place in any time of the year. Photo taken on January, 1st, 2012...

2. Another view from this unique place. It was such a dramatic sunset that filled the winter sky above Yalta with many colors. Also you can see the gray massive clouds passing over Crimean Mountains to the Southern Coast. It is always an amazing sky spectacle because the clouds are constantly moving with wind flow and become similar to the liquid, but cannot pass through the mountains.

3. If you're lucky with the weather, you can see beautiful sunsets from the observation platform near Massandra Palace, and when it's windy the sky above the Black Sea becomes red and epic. So you can enjoy such dramatic views and the grandeur of nature. January 1st, 2012

4. And now let me show you some photos taken in Massandra Park. It is situated much lower then the Palace and much closer to the Black Sea coast and Yalta. Here you can simply walk and enjoy such beautiful views.

5. Or, alternatively, you can take a rest on a cozy bench or on this picturesque meadow not far from the famous 'Yalta Hotel':

6. And if you will return from Massandra Park to Yalta in the evening, you will be awarded with the memorable views of Yalta citylights and especially St. John Chrysostom Cathedral with its 45m Bell Tower:

Yalta photo album [part 1]

Since I seriously started shooting digital captures I have collected many interesting Yalta photos. So I decided to begin posting them on this blog as a small albums. Sometimes they will be dedicated to a specific topic and sometimes will not. Today we start with a marine theme because Yalta is always closely associated with Black Sea. Many Mediterranean sea cruises are planned so to visit Yalta and a lot of tourists come to Yalta on cruise ships. Black Sea and different views of Yalta bay can be seen from almost every part of the town so let me fill today's album with some photos of this thematic.

1. The panorama of Yalta bay and the former 'Golden Fleece' restaurant on Yalta embankment (January 2013). Now this famous restaurant is called 'Apelsin' ('Orange') but still is stylized as an antique ship so you will see it from all parts of Yalta embankment

'Samantha Smith' ship in Yalta bay (September 2011). From Wiki: 'Samantha Reed Smith (June 29, 1972 – August 25, 1985) was an American schoolgirl, peace activist and child actress from Manchester, Maine, who became famous in the Cold War era United States and Soviet Union. In 1982, Smith wrote a letter to the newly appointed CPSU General Secretary Yuri Andropov, and received a personal reply which included a personal invitation to visit the Soviet Union, which she accepted'.

3. Yalta Embankment and The Chapel (October 2011)

4. Swans and other birds in Yalta Bay near the embankment (January 1st, 2013). Every cold winter many birds fly to Southern Coast of Crimea where the climate is much warmer. So you can see swans, ducks and cormorants even in the center of Yalta just near the embankment and feed them with the bread.

5. Sea and sky in Yalta Port or 'I love Yalta' (January 2013)

Sunset On the Old Road from Yalta to Sebastopol

Today I want to show you my best photos from the place that is famous for its unique sights of the Southern Coast of Crimea. Many people know Foros Church of Christ's Resurrection, but there is one another POI in this part of Crimea. It is called 'Old road from Yalta to Sebastopol'and is famous first of all for its unique views of the Crimean Mountains and Southern Coast. This road passes much higher than the main highway Yalta-Sevastopol at an altitude of 400-500 m above sea level. Sometimes it lies so close to the rocks that it seems that they are right above your head. So I have some photos from this places for you.
